The most real view of the Earth!
It is based on interpolating Whole Earth images provided by NASA's EPIC camera on board the DSCOVR satellite, located in the "L1" Lagrange point, 1 million miles from the Earth, on the Sun axis.
This position, in a stable equilibrium between Earth and Sun gravity, gives us a permanent view on the fully-lit day-side of our planet.

Images are interpolated as they are streamed in from NASA's servers, turning this app into a literal Earth player.
Note that, depending on NASA's discretion, some images are missing and we replace by a dummy synthetic earth.
Also, latest available images may be a few days late.
Just sit and watch for an amazing Overview Effect, or, touch the Earth to move it across time and space.

More touch interface tips- Drag left and right to "move time" and therefore rotate the Earth- Drag up/down to increase/decrease time speed factor- Fling up or down to jump a full 24h day.- Pinch to zoom on a region- Double-tap to zoom and follow a geolocation and better see clouds passing by
So many things to observe:
* See the real clouds, slowly moving as the Earth rotates.
* See the seasons through the Earth tilt angle by choosing a date in the past solstices (until July 2015 when DSCOVR EPIC started sending its first pictures back to Earth).
* See the living Earth from the view point of our only light source.
* See our only home as you have never seen it before.
